Things You Can Do in Wales That You Can't Do Anywhere Else

Wales is a beautiful place to visit, with a lot to see packed into its relatively small size of just over 8,000 square miles. There's a majestic range of mountains to see, some of the world's last remaining temperate rainforest and hundreds of historical attractions. But if you're looking for something more unusual to experience, it's got that too. Here are just a couple of examples.

Snowdonia National Park is known for its beautiful mountains carved from volcanic rock by the last age and towering over beautiful green valleys. However, buried deep within the park is a very unique attraction. This region was once a thriving mining community and one of the disused mines has been put to an unusual new user. As part of the Blaenau Ffestiniog adventure hub, Bounce Below has connected a network of trampolines with slides and climbing frames, providing a unique, exciting experience for the young and young at heart. It's also great if you love heights — one of the trampolines is over 30 feet high!

The Welsh language is known for its long words and even longer place names, so it's no surprise that it has a village with the longest name in the English-speaking world. Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch (these days usually known as Llanfairpwll or Llanfairpwllgwyngyll) is a village much like others around it, except for its unique name, which translates as "St Mary’s Church in the Hollow of the White Hazel near a Rapid Whirlpool and the Church of St. Tysilio near the Red Cave.” Tourists visit from all over the world just to pose for a picture in front of the very long sign in the local rail station.
